Harbor Gallery

New Harbor defines all that is beautiful in Maine. Monhegan Island is quintessential Maine. The Moorings: a compliment to both.

A selection of photographs by prominent photographer, Jack Lane, of Bristol, capturing the natural, majestic, and unspoiled beauty of New Harbor and the Pemaquid region.

Jutting out into the North Atlantic, New Harbor has successfully escaped the encroaching commercialism that has victimized so many of the popular vacation destinations in Maine.

The Moorings, under the respectful care of Tony and Sally Capodilupo, has managed to escape the trappings of crass commercialism but, conversely, managed to maintain a nature preserve with deer, rabbits, wild turkeys, foxes, and occasional visits by moose. The Moorings 10-acre site serves as a glorious backdrop for a handful of guests, insuring low density, and quiet refuge and retreat from workaday pressures. This season, this sentiment was expressed accurately by a guest from the United Kingdom: "The transition from pressure cooker to peace usually involves a period of adjustment, but at the Moorings, it is instantaneous".
